Resilience Programmes

Evidence-based programmes that build the capacity to perform well and flourish in demanding careers.

Work can be demanding. High workloads, constant change, competing priorities and the pressure to keep delivering can gradually take their toll, even on highly capable people. Resilience isn't about simply pushing through, becoming tougher or learning to tolerate more pressure. It is about developing the capacity to respond well when demands are high, recover quickly when faced with difficult challenges and make conscious choices about how we use our energy and resources for sustained performance.

Resilience shows up in how we manage our energy, regulate our emotions, think about and respond to challenges, draw on our relationships, and stay connected to what matters. And because all of these things influence one another, resilience isn't about mastering one particular skill. It's about developing a set of interconnected resources that help us respond well when life and work are demanding.

This interconnected view of resilience sits at the heart of Five to Flourish®, my evidence-based framework for building resilience and sustainable performance.

Introducing Five to Flourish®

A practical, evidence-based programme helping people build the resources to perform well and flourish in life and work.

Five to Flourish® focuses on five areas that influence how we feel, function, and perform: Energy, Emotions, Mindset, Relationships, and Purpose.

These areas don't operate in isolation. When our energy is depleted, it becomes harder to regulate our emotions and think clearly. Our mindset influences how we interpret and respond to challenges. Our relationships can support and replenish us. A sense of purpose and direction can help us maintain perspective when things get difficult.

Throughout the programme, we explore each area to help people deepen their self-awareness, recognise what supports or depletes their resilience, and identify the practical changes that will make the greatest difference. As people understand themselves better, they become better able to recognise their patterns, make conscious choices about how they respond, and take greater ownership of what supports their resilience.

How the programme works

Five to Flourish® draws on research from positive psychology, behavioural science, neuroscience and resilience, but the emphasis throughout is on translating that evidence into something useful in everyday life.

More than a one-off workshop

Building resilience isn't something we achieve through one inspiring workshop and a few good intentions. Five to Flourish® follows a structured learning journey through the five areas, delivered over several months through a blend of in-person workshops and shorter online sessions. The programme gives people time to learn, reflect, experiment, put what they discover into practice, and share learnings with a supportive cohort that endures beyond the programme. Each stage builds on the last, helping participants develop greater awareness of how they operate and build habits and strategies that work for them.

Over the course of the programme, participants bring these insights and practices together to create their own Five to Flourish® Blueprint, a personalised approach to protecting their resilience, sustaining their performance and helping themselves flourish over the longer term.

Evidence into practice

Understanding resilience is only useful if we can put it into practice. That's where Flourish in 5® comes in: a collection of simple, evidence-based practices we can use in around five minutes to help us reset, recharge, or refocus during a busy day. They are deliberately short and practical, making it easier to build resilience into everyday life rather than treating it as something else to find time for.

Between sessions, participants are supported with practical resources, reflections and the Flourish in 5® practices, helping them turn what they are learning into small, sustainable habits that fit into everyday working life. The programme can also be complemented by one-to-one coaching, providing a confidential space for participants to explore their own patterns, challenges and priorities more deeply, and apply what they are learning to the reality of their own work and life.

Who is it for?

Five to Flourish® is designed for organisations that want to support both people and performance. By helping individuals better understand and manage their own resilience, the programme develops greater self-awareness, adaptability and personal responsibility for sustainable performance.

The core programme remains consistent, while examples, conversations and areas of emphasis can be adapted to reflect the particular context and pressures within your organisation.
